How to find a job

finding-a-jobWhat are your future prospects?

Even with the economic doom and gloom we are all hearing about, there are still career opportunities for trainee plumbers both in the UK and further afield.

Building companies, manufacturing companies, kitchen, bathroom and shopfitting companies, local authorities and public institutions (e.g. hospitals) are just some of the businesses looking for new plumbers. It would however, be unrealistic not to acknowledge that the jobs are harder to find, but it just means a little more work from you to get out there and find them.

How to go about finding a job

Don't wait for a job to come to you. Be proactive and start researching your local market.

Go through the Yellow Pages and identify companies that you would like to work for. Send them a letter of introduction and your CV, or if you're feeling really brave, go and see them face to face. A personal introduction will always be much more effective.

Ask friends and family if they've heard of any job vacancies. You never know who your uncle or cousin may know and you need to make sure as many people as possible know that you're looking for work.

Keep on top of your job search. Regularly read the local newspapers and make a list of good websites, visiting these at least weekly, to see what jobs have been posted.
