Are you the HIP! UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year 2009?
The HIP!-EX 2009 event is home to the launch of the HIP! UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year 2009 Award. The award takes the form of a competition covering the UK, testing Level 2 and Level 3 Plumbing NVQ apprentices on core practical elements of their course. This culminates in the live final at HIP!-EX where five regional finalists will go head to head in a chance to win a range of prizes and secure some national publicity.
HIP! has joined forces with Plumbfix to host this award and both are totally committed to encouraging excellence across the plumbing and heating engineering industries, Plumbfix Marketing Director, John Mewett says “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the first HIP! UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year Award. Plumbfix is committed to driving standards across the industry and encouraging best practice is crucial to the future reputation of the trade.”
Celia Matthews, Publisher of HIP!, comments “The competition will cover the tasks that apprentices are doing every day, demonstrating their ability to meet the industry required standards. HIP! is so excited to be hosting the event and hope that all of the apprentices enjoy the experience.”
What’s involved?
The competition will consist of five regional heats and a final. The regional test is made up of a practical test involving plastic and copper piping and should take no more than 4 hours to complete. The actual test paper will be given to the apprentices on the day of the test, along with the rules. The practical test has been designed by an assessor and based on plumbing course level 3 material, so there should be no surprises!
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CONTESTANTS WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP THE TOOLS THAT THEY USE AT THE EVENT!
