IT’S SHOWTIME!
Welcome to HIP!-EX 2010. There’s no better way to boost your career - and have a fun day out at the same time - than by attending HIP!-EX 2010, the only trade show aimed directly at apprentice heating engineers, installers and plumbers like you!
HIP!-EX 2010 will be packed with things to do, people to meet, new products to explore and tons to learn. Plus, as always, students get a free goody bag on arrival, and we’re being extra generous with the freebies in the goody bags!
Last year over 2,000 trainee plumbers and heating engineers attended HIP!-EX alone, and with SPARKS EXPO (www.sparksexpo.co.uk) joining us next year, we’re expecting an even greater turnout. Colleges from as far afield as Derby, South Devon and Wales enjoyed HIP!-EX 2009, with their presence thrilling many of the exhibitors. We expect an even greater turn-out for 2010.
All the big names in the plumbing world will be there: Plumb Center, Parts Center, Worcester Bosch Group, Grundfos Pumps, Henkel Loctite, Tracpipe and many more. They’ll all have competitions and other fun and games on their stands, with plenty of new products to demonstrate, and all especially geared to guys like you, just starting out in the industry.
HIP!-EX is nothing like other trade shows: it’s aimed directly at students, and is way livelier than any other show you’ve ever heard of, or will ever go to again!
Though many exhibitors are looking to explain to you just how essential their latest bits of kit are, others are actually looking to employ good candidates, not least the British Gas Academy, who were delighted by the quality of potential employees they met last year. “Yet again the organisers of HIP!-EX have succeeded in pulling together an extremely rewarding and exciting event,” said Samina Shad of the BGA. “We’ll be back with an even bigger stand in 2010.”

Go head-to-head with other students at a wide range of quizzes and competitions in the Challenge Arena, as hosted throughout the two days by TV presenter and Big Brother winner Craig Phillips, perhaps Britain’s most famous builder. You can sign up to take part on the day, and there are some fantastic prizes to be won! (Virtually no-one goes home empty-handed!)
UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year 2010: The Live Finals! Sponsored by Plumbfix
Now in its second year, the competition goes from strength to strength. In 2009, Adam Bainbridge from Darlington College was named Britain’s best plumbing apprentice after a gruelling set of challenges in a series of regional heats, followed by the final showdown at HIP!-EX 2009. There he had to prove himself and his plumbing skills in a series of head-to-head challenges contested by the cream of Britain’s NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 students. This year, with even more regional heats we expect an even more exciting competition.
UK Apprentice Electrician of the Year 2010: The Live Finals!
New this year, Sparks Expo 2010 hosts a sister competition to UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year. Same tough challenges, but with an even more (ahem) ‘electric’ atmosphere! Even if you’re really a HIP!-EX guy or gal, it’s worth nipping across to our sister show to check out the action.

Tech Talks
Tech Talks are all free to attend. Presentations will be given by Grundfos, Mitsubishi, Sentinel Performance Solutions and Hep20. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each tech talk. You will be able to book your place at a session when you arrive at the show.
